DAY 1: ARRIVAL - HANOI

On arrival at Noi Bai Airport, you are met and transferred to hotel. Ha Noi , Vietnam's capital, is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia 's most striking colonial architecture. The many lakes and parks make for relaxing atmosphere. If time permits we embark on a cyclo for a short excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. O/N in Hanoi.
 


DAY 2 : HANOI

Today we enjoy a full day city tour starting with the Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts. This complex also comprises the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of city. We follow this with a trip to the Temple of Literature, which is well known as the first university of Vietnam and the impressive Ethnologic Museum, dedicated to Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. The beautiful West Lake and the History Museum with an excellent collection of artifacts illustrating the Vietnamese history, are not to be missed. We visit these sights before continuing to the peaceful lake of Hoan Kiem. In front of this lake is the famous water puppet theatre where we will see a fantastic performance. O/N in Ha Noi. (B)
 
DAY 3 : HANOI - SAPA

An early morning start to drive towards Sa Pa. The roads are bumpy at times, but various scenic landscape changing from the delta area to the Tonkinese Alps make for an interesting journey. At an elevation of 1,500 meters, Sa Pa was once a hill resort of French administrators when the summer heat became unbearable. The remoteness and the simple lifestyle of ethnic minority people are a highlight of Sa Pa although conditions are basic. After checking into hotel in Sapa we can soak up the fresh climate as much as we want by spending time to wander around. The ethnic people are frequently seen in this hill town and small vendors along the street sell local textiles and handicraft. O/N in Ha Noi. (B)
 
DAY  4: SAPA

The range of Phan Si Pan boasts Vietnam's highest mountain and lends an alpine feel to the area surrounding this hill station. Today we have enough time to visit the bustling Sa Pa Market where the Red Dao, Black Hmong, Tay and Xa Pho ethnic minorities converge from the nearby mountainsides and valleys to trade their goods and buy provisions. We then get well off the beaten track as we embark on a walk to explore this beautiful mountain region. Along the way we traverse several rustic villages and see many mountaineers doing their daily works such as logging, herding buffalo and tilling the field. The blend of verdant mountain backdrop and colourful population makes for an unimaginable view. O/N in Sa Pa. (B)
 
DAY  5: SAPA - BAC HA - HANOI

Upon leaving Sapa we set off on our scenic drive through the border town of Lao Cai to the colourful Sunday Market at Bac Ha. This market also attracts a wide variety of ethnic minority groups including the Variegated Hmong, Dao, Phu La, La Chi and Tay. They still retain their old age cultural traditions and are recognisably distinct from each other by their dress. The experience of this congregation is colorful and unique. After the market we enjoy a walk around the area, visiting the Hmong King's former residence and Ban Pho where the villagers make the potent local maize alcohol. In the mid afternoon you are transferred to Lao Cai train station for return trip to Hanoi. O/N on board. (B)
 
DAY  6: HANOI - HALONG

The train journey will deliver us to Hanoi train station by early morning. Here we meet up with our car for a drive through the scenic countryside to Halong bay. On arrival, we embark on Huong Hai Junk at 12h15 for an exploration of the bay which is truly one of Vietnam's most scenic impressive sights. At 13h00 we enjoy a huge lunch served on board and cruise out passing by the picturesque scenery. The limestone karst formations are littered with beaches, grottoes and beautiful caves. Along the way we will anchor for a leisurely swim in a secluded cove and an enjoyable visit to one of the many hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs. A perfect way to round off the day is a taste of local wine and an observation of the sunset. We have dinner at 19h30 before enjoying some night activities. O/N in Halong Bay. (B,L)
 
DAY 7: HALONG - NINH BINH

The following destination of our trip will be Ninh Binh. Upon leaving the town we set off on our drive through the scenic countryside. A part of the pleasure of travelling in this region is the simple joy of seeing the rice fields and the smiling faces of the people. We make stop en route for a visit to Keo Pagoda, one of the most exceptional religious architecture in Vietnam. We then continue to Ninh Binh and have time to visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu with two remaining temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties. They were founded in the late 10th century. Despite the turbulent history , these temples still preserve their original structure. O/N in Ninh Binh. (B)
 
DAY  8: NINH BINH - TAM COC - VINH 

Heading out of town we set off on a short drive to Tam Coc which is surnamed '' Inland Halong Bay''. Here we have the chance to take a rowing boat trip on a river through the quiet and peaceful landscape of rice fields surrounded by limestone formations to the grottoes of Tam Coc. The next stop of our trip will be Bich Dong which is famous for the three Buddhist shrines hidden beneath towering cliffs. After seeing this landmark we travel along the highway No1 past the many peaceful villages to Vinh, our today's final destination. O/N in Vinh. (B)
 
DAY  9 : VINH - DONG LOC - PHONG NHA - DONG HA

The overland journey continues with the next stop being Dong Loc crossroads which is now becomes a historical war site. Here we begin driving along the Ho Chi Minh Trails to the world heritage site of Phong Nha. This complex composes of 14 grottoes littered in the limestone mountains in Ke Bang. The main tunnel with a total length of 7,729 m boasts the longest underground river in Vietnam, and is decorated with multiform stalactites and stalagmites . We enjoy a boat trip exploring this wondrous site before continuing to Dong Ha Town, our base for seeing the Khe Sanh war site. O/N in Dong Ha. (B)
 
DAY  10: DONG HA - DMZ - HUE

An impressive way to start our day is a drive along the road No 9 past the peaceful area, which was once home to a series of fire support bases during the American war. We arrive at the former American marine base of Khe Sanh and have time to stroll around to visit some of the many battle sites and military camps. There were all but partly cleared by villagers. We make our way towards Tacon Airport as well as Lang Vei Special Forces Camp, in south of Lang Vei Village. Upon leaving these sites, we make our way via A Luoi to Hue, Vietnam's feudal capital from 1802 to 1945. O/N in Hue. (B)
 
DAY 11: HUE

The beautiful riverside pagoda of Thien Mu which now becomes the symbol of Hue, is not to be missed. We include this in a guided cruise on the Perfume River which also gives us a taste of the scenic countryside as well as an enjoyable visit to the mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang, in a tranquil setting of gardens and lakes. Upon leaving this landmark we continue seeing the elaborate royal tomb of Emperor Tu Duc. We then return to the town and have time exploring the massive citadel, containing the Imperial City and the Purple Forbidden City. This royal residence was all but destroyed during the 1968 Tet Offensive, however it is still fascinating to walk among the ruins. O/N in Hue. (B)
 
DAY  12: HUE - HOIAN

Heading out of the town, we drive south to Hoi An which was originally a Cham seaport but has been influenced down the centuries by a myriad of traders from various cultures. Along the way we can break the journey in Lang Co Beach for a leisurely swim and an enjoyable visit to a nearby fishing village. The winding road begins as we make our way up the spectacular Hai Van pass. A view from the top of the pass is one of Vietnam's most impressive panoramic scenes. The next stop of our trip is Da Nang which is famous for the Cham Museum. After seeing this sight we continue to the China Beach and the Marble Mountain, whose peaks represent the five elements of the universe. On arrival in Hoian we have time to visit the famous Japanese Covered Bridges, the Pottery Museum, the 200 years old Tam Ky House, the Chua Ong Pagoda, the vibrant market. O/N at Hoian hotel. (B)
 
DAY  13: HOIAN - KOM TUM

An An early morning start to drive along the road 14 B to Thanh My. On arrival we turn left to the road 14 which is the main link of Ho Chi Minh Trails and drive upwards to Kom Tum in Vietnam central highlands. The journey is long but the spectacular landscape will make for an interesting day. A part of the pleasure of travelling in this region is the simple joy of seeing the rice fields and the smiling faces of the people. We arrival in Kom Tum mid afternoon and have time to visit town with the Komtum Seminary, the traditional culture center, the Wooden Church and the Banar ethnic village. O/N in Kom Tum. (B)
 
DAY  14: KOM TUM - LAK LAKE

The interesting journey continues along the central highlands and pass Vietnam's biggest growing coffee area to Pleiku and Komtum. The deep contrast of lush vegetation and red surface of basaltic soil is incredible all along the way. On arrival in Buon Ma Thuat we turn left to Lak Lake , home to the Mnong hill trible people. We enjoy a short dugout ride on Lak Lake which is surrounded by the verdant and rugged mountains. Afterwards we transfer to June village where we are guest of a M'nong family in a traditional long house. The facilities here are very basic, but the experience is definitive unique. This also offers us a chance to explore the simple lifestyle of the M'nong hill tribe people. O/N in Lak Lake. (B, D)
 
DAY  15: LAK LAKE - DRAYSAP WATER FALLS - HO CHI MINH

Today we spend a full day drive along the Ho Chi Minh trails which now becomes a highway liking the central highlands and Ho Chi Minh City, the metropolis of Vietnam. Along the way we make stop to visit a famous water fall, locally named D'raysap by the E de Hill tribe people. This fall is amid the primitive forest ; however you need some physical preparations to ascend the strenuous path. Upon leaving this site we continue traveling south. The journey is long and but we can make stop as you please to stretch your legs and take some wonderful pictures. O/N in Ho Chi Minh. (B)
 
DAY 16: HO CHI MINH - CU CHI

The sightseeing tour acquaints us with some major sights of the city. We pass the now-demolished wartime American Embassy before we visit the Reunification Palace which was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until end of April 1975, and some French colonial structures including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Sai Gon Post Office. After seeing the Jade Emperor Pagoda and the War Remnant Museum, we continue our trip on to the Cho Lon, Saigon's Chinatown, which is crammed with fascinating temples and mysterious, narrow lanes. We then drive this afternoon, to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network of approximately 200 kilometres constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. DAY  17: MEKONG DELTA

Upon leaving the town, we set off on a two  hour drive to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam's largest rice bowl. On arrival in My Tho we embark on a boat navigating around the intricate small canals in the delta region, which is a great way to observe the local lifestyle close-up and catch a view dotted by many islands. The exciting excursion will pass the lush green vegetation before arriving at the famous Unicorn Island. Here we have opportunities to stroll around an orchard, taste many seasonal fruits and enjoy wonderful traditional music. The next stop of our trip is Ben Tre Province to visit some fascinating local industries. After feasting on a huge lunch we return to Ho Chi Minh, stopping off along the way to see the beautiful Ving Trang Pagoda and the Cho Lon, Saigon's Chinatown, which is crammed with sacred temples and mysterious, narrow lanes. DAY  18: HO CHI MINH DEPARTURE

There is a free time to relax or further explore Ho Chi Minh City. The tour ends after your transfer to Tan San Nhat Airport for departure. (B).

DAY 2: SA PA TREKKING
Day walk around SaPa : 7 km (returned way ) to visit Black H’Mong villages. Over night in SaPa .
 


 DAY 3: SA PA - LAI CHAU
Overland drive 120 km to LaiChau, passing the highest in Vietnam mountain pass. 180 km. Lunch en route. Dinner and sleep over night in LaiChau’s Hotel .
 
DAY 4: LAI CHAU - DA RIVER
Start cruising down the Black River ( Da river ) by fishing boat. Extremely beautiful landscapes. Picnic lunch. Dinner and over night in a village of the Thai ethnic minority people on the bank of the river. Basic conditions .
 
DAY 5:DA RIVER - MAI CHAU
Overland drive to MaiChau Valley. 200 km. Lunch en route. Dinner and over night on stilt house in a village of the Thai people in MaiChau.
 
DAY 6: MAI CHAU - HANOI
AM: Walk around the valley. Lunch in the village. PM: Drive to Hanoi. 150 km. Tour ends in Hanoi around 4 PM.

Detail Itinerary
Day 1: Ha Noi - Quang Binh, Ha Giang (L, D)
 
Departure from Ha Noi by 4WD, or private vehicle to Ha Giang. Lunch on the way. Arrival in the afternoon in Quang Binh, the evening's can be spent watching and enjoying their Traditional Fire Dancing on hot coals (If booked). Also tasting their locally produced Corn wine. If it is particularly hot there, you can swim in the Bac (Silver) River. Very pleasant and giving you a feeling of being completely at one with your surroundings, and being in times past. Dinner and overnight in Quang Binh - either the government guest house, or a homestay with a local family. At present, that is the choice of accomodation available.More plans are being made to provide Quang Binh with other alternatives.


 Day 2: Quang Binh full day (B, L, D)
 
After breakfast, Bamboo rafting is here to have a gentle and relaxing ride along the Silver River but so interesting. This takes you through a few Tribal Villages where you can stop to chat and have lunch with the Locals. In the afternoon, a quick visit to the caves, we will check out a local Cave, called Pac Tham. This cave is very interesting and has a stream running through it and a big pool which is deep. You can have a swim here if you desire!. O/N in Quang Binh.

Day 3: Quang Binh - Ha Giang (B, L, D)
 
After breakfast, A Visit to the city, which is situated on the banks of two rivers Lo and Mien, the town is perched picturesquely between the superb mountains of Can and MoNeo. The daily Ha Giang Markets, near the Lo River in the old quarter, is especially dense. Here you can find all the ethnic minorities of Hagiang in many different colored costumes. This provides a great opportunity to wander around and take great photo's and observe the hustle and bustle. After lunch, we visit the Ethnology Museum : many archeological, ethnological, historical objects
are exhibited especially the ancient ''Gong'' made of  bronze, demonstrates a culture since the ancient time. Dinner and overnight in Ha Giang Town. 

Day 4: Ha Giang - Dong Van(B, L)
 
After breakfast, Depart to Dong Van via Quan Ba. Stop in Quan Ba pass ''the Paradise door'' where the view is superb, with green valleys and rows of identical hills and mountains. (The Quan Ba Sunday morning markets are one of the most important and interesting meeting places). In this region you find the White H’mong, the Red Dzao and Tay ... who live only in the villages around Quan Ba District. Lunch en route. Continue on to Dong Van District. We will stop to visit the H’Mong King Palace, built in 1900, Vuong Chi Duc was recognized King of H’mong tribes by French colonialists. In 1927, he was appointed as general of French army. In 1944, he surrendered to President Ho Chi Minh. Dinner and overnight in Dong Van.

Day 5: Dong Van - Meo Vac - Tuyen Quang (B, L, D)
 
After breakfast, we visit the Dong Van market and the ancient streets. Lunch in Yen Minh and then continue to Tuyen Quang via Meo Vac. Hot mineral bath available if desired. Dinner and overnight in Tuyen Quang. 
 
Day 6: Tuyen Quang - Thai Nguyen - Ha Noi (B, L, D)
 
TanTrao: a small valley lying between mountains and jungles in Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang Province . Tan Trao is a historical area that was used as a resistance base before the August 1945 Revolution. Tan Trao was a temporary capital of the independent section of the country, where the Vietnamese Communist Party held several meetings, especially during August 1945. On the 13th, attendees voted in favor of a general revolution during a National Conference meeting of the Communist Party. On the 16th, the National Assembly Conference was held. Ten major policies were voted by the Vietminh, the League for the Independence of Vietnam, and a temporary government chaired by President Ho Chi Minh was established. The Vietminh army was also founded on that day. Also on the 16th, the Temple Government led by President Ho Chi Minh had a meeting in the Tan Trao Communal House. The participants of this conference stayed at the Hong Thai Communal House. One hundred meters north of the communal house is the Tan Trao Banyan Tree.
Between June and August 1945, before he returned to Hanoi , President Ho Chii Minh resided in this area in a cottage erected by the liberation soldiers.
Return to Ha Noi via Thai Nguyen province.

Day 1: HA NOI - ARRIVAL (D)
 
On arrival at Ha Noi where we will be taken to our hotel for the night.


 Day 2: HA NOI - MAI CHAU (B/L/D)
 
We will arise early to visit Hoan Kiem Lake to photograph early risers meditating, doing tai chi, exercising and playing badminton. After breakfast, we will go on a ½ day city tour, visiting the Temple of Literature , One Pillar Pagoda and Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum. In the afternoon, we travel to Mai Chau where we will encounter our first experience with ethnic minority people. Late afternoon will be spent exploring and photographing the village and surrounding rice paddies. We stay overnight in a White Thai village having dinner and sleeping in traditional stilt house. In the evening we will be entertained with dances and songs as well as drink an alcoholic beverage called Ruou Can with long straws.

Day 3: MAI CHAU - NGHIA LO (B/L/D)
 
In the morning you are free to explore the town to buy local produce and embroideries or explore the surrounding countryside to photograph the locals going about their farm duties. After breakfast we commence our journey to Nghai Lo where we will begin to witness the spectacular mountain scenery of North-West Vietnam . This is where the density of ethnic minority people walking along the road or attending their fields begins to increase. On arrival in Nghia Lo, we check into our hotel before visiting a historical site marking the resistance of the Yen Bai people against French aggression and an ancient Thai village to discover how they go about their daily lives.

Day 4: NGHIA LO - SA PA (B/L/D)
 
We will arise early to photograph the town of Nghia Lo as it awakes. After breakfast we commence our journey to Sa Pa. On the way we will stop to visit a Lu minority village as well as climb Tram Ton pass, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam . On arrival in Sa Pa we will check into the hotel. The afternoon is free to visit Sa Pa township, Ham Rong Mountain or the Botanical gardens. That evening we will travel back to Tram Ton pass to photograph the sunset over Heavens Gate.

Day 5: SA PA (B/L/D)
 
Today we will trek down the mountain to Ta Van village. Along the way we will photograph the magnificent terraced rice fields and local minority people going about their day-to-day activities. After an enjoyable picnic lunch, we will continue our trek, walking through a number of minority villages and getting up close to the terraced rice fields. We will photograph the sunset over the terraced rice fields at our leisure. Tonight our accommodation will be a home stay in Ta Van village.

Day 6: SA PA - LUNG KHAU NHIN MARKET - BAC HA (B/L/D)
 
This morning we will arise early to photograph the sunrise over the terraced rice fields and minority people commencing their daily activities. After breakfast, we commence our 3 hour journey to Lung Khau Nhin Market which is one of the most untouched markets in North Vietnam . Here we will observe and photograph Nung, Flower H'Mong, Black Dao and Dzay minority people buying and selling their local produce. After spending the morning casually strolling around and photographing the markets, we will visit a Black Dao village called Sin Lung Chai. We then make our way to Bac Ha, where we will check into our hotel.

Day 7: BAC HA - HA GIANG (B/L/D)
 
We will arise early to visit and photograph Ban Pho, a Flower H'Mong village. We then commence our long journey to Ha Giang, through stunning countryside with valleys and mountains opening up on all sides and then along the remote Chay River Valley . During the trip, we may see Flower H'Mong, Nung, Co Lao, Red Dao, Dao Ao Dai, La Chi Pa Then and White H'Mong minority people going about their daily lives. Stops will be provided along the way for photography. Overnight in Ha Giang.

Day 8: HA GIANG - QUAN BA - DONG VAN (B/L/D)
 
Today we will experience a spectacular day of driving through amazing mountainous landscapes nestled up against the border with China . About 50km's out of Ha Giang, the road zigzags its way up the amazing Quan Ba Pass eventually providing a spectacular view over Quan Ba town and the surrounding countryside. Opportunities to take photographs will be provided along the way. We end out days journey at Dong Van, an isolated town atop a small hill. Dong Van is very beautiful with mountains, forests, hidden grottoes and multi-coloured orchid forests. In the evening, we will explore Pho Bang Street with its ancient multi-story clay brick houses.

Day 9: DONG VAN – MEO VAC – BAO LAC – CAO BANG (B/L/D)
 
We arise early to visit and photograph Dong Van market. After breakfast we commence our journey down Ma Pi Leng pass, providing us with what is regarded as the most stunning scenery in North Vietnam . We eventually descend into a beautiful valley that encloses Meo Vac before continuing our journey to Cao Bang, via Bao Lac. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Day 10: CAO BANG - TONG COT CATTLE MARKET - BAN GIOC WATERFALL - CAO BANG (B/L/D)
 
This morning we will be treated to a unique event that is rarely visited by tourists. We will visit the Tong Cot cattle market where 200 to 300 head of cattle are sold every 5 days. Afterwards, we will make our way to the beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Chinese border. The picturesque, cascading waterfall is 53m high and has an impressive span of 300m. The drive there and back also offers unique landscapes with limestone karst formations soaring from the rice paddies of the surrounding farms of local ethnic minorities. We will stop on our return trip to photograph waterwheels, which are only found in this part of Vietnam. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Day 11: CAO BANG - LANG SON - HA LONG CITY (B/L/D)
 
We will arise early to photograph Cao Bang as it awakes. After breakfast we will commence our long journey to Ha Long City stopping for lunch and a well earned break at Lang Son. After eating at a local restaurant we will travel to the surrounding limestone hills to visit a couple of impressive caves and the remnants of the ruined 16 th -century Mac Dynasty Citadel. We will then continue our journey to Ha Long City where we will check into our hotel before re-joining for dinner.

Day 12: HA LONG BAY - CAT BA ISLAND (B/L/D)
 
We will arise early to visit and photograph the local fish market. After breakfast, we will board the boat and commence our full day cruise of Ha Long Bay. We will visit Surprising Cave and photograph the bay, floating villages and fish farms. In the afternoon, we will climb up to the peak of Ti Top Island for a panoramic view of Ha Long bay. We will then make our way to Cat Ba where we will check into our hotel. You are then free to explore Cat Ba Island and photograph the sunset over the harbour. For those more adventurous types, you can arrange a boat to take you around the harbour at your own expense.

Day 13: CAT BA - NINH BINH - KENH GA (B/L/D)
 
We will arise early to photograph the sunrise. After breakfast, we board a 
Hydrofoil for transfer to Hai Phong City, where our buses will be waiting for us. After lunch in Hai Phong City, we commence our journey to Ninh Binh, stopping briefly at Thai Binh. We will then make our way to Kenh Ga Floating Village where we will witness and photograph the unique river life.

Day 14: TAM COC - HOA LU - VAN LONG - HA NOI (B/L/D)
 
This morning we will enjoy a 2 hour boat cruise through Tam Coc which boasts some absolutely breathtaking scenery. Afterwards, we will travel along rural roads amongst the rice fields and magnificent rock formations of the Hoa Lu area. After lunch we will visit Van Long Nature Reserve (2 hours) before commencing our journey back to Hanoi . We will stop at a market garden during the return trip to photographs rural life up close. On arrival in Ha Noi, we will check into our hotel before enjoying dinner at a charming restaurant at Hoan Kiem Lake.
Day 15: HA NOI - DEPARTURE (B/../)
We will arise early to visit Dong Xuan markets, the largest markets in Ha Noi. After breakfast we will go on a walking tour for 1 or 2 hrs in the old quarter, photographing the shops, street life and people going about their day-to-day activities. You will then have free time to visit Ha Noi or catch up on your shopping. In the afternoon, we will transfer to the airport for Your flight .

Day 1: Hanoi - Tuyen Quang - Quang Binh (-,L,D)
 
- Depart at 08.00 from Hanoi with Lotussia Travel guide by vehicle for Tuyen Quang Town Ship via Viet Tri, Phu Tho which takes about 4 hours including some tea breaks and viewing stops along the way. The drive of this part offers lively scenery of the northern country side from the Red River Delta to the midland of Phu Tho province with palm forest and tea plantation on the hilly land.

Day 2: Quang Binh - Nam An - Quan Ba(Tam Son town let)(B,L,D)
 
- Breakfast and leaving Quang Binh at 08.00 and driving 12 km to My Bac Commune and spend 20 minutes to visit the communal market before walking around My Pac village, paying visit to local homes to discover the unique culture of the Pa Then ethnic peoples. There is opportunities to see Pa Then women making traditional brocade and costumes.
- 09.30: Leaving My Pac Village and driving 38 km for about an hour to Nam An. This is a special tip of the day! At the top of the mountain pass about 3 km for the main road, great view of the below valleys, the Lo river… opens wide and far. Nam An used to be a narrow and deep valley, built into a lake for water storage to run a hydraulic power plant and now has become spectacular lake with a peninsular for eco-tourist sport. The group will spend an hour walking around the lake to pay visit to a Red Zao village whose culture and living style is remaining as its was for hundreds of years. Lunch in a house built by the water and relax. Clients may swim in the emerald clear water or moving around the lake on bamboo rafts or boats.
- Leaving Nam An at about 13.30 driving 45 km to Ha Giang and then uphill 43 km to Quan Ba. Clients will enjoy stunning landscapes along the Lo river from Nam An to Ha Giang and then the real high mountains cenery for an hour from Ha Giang to Quan Ba. At about 16.00 arriving at Quyet Tien Commune locating near the top of Quan Ba pass at 1000 m above sea level. Here the group will spend an hours enjoying marvel of nature and paying visit to 2 villages: One is Lung Muoi village of the H’mong with traditional living style of the highlander ethnics and the other, Vinh Tien village of the Kinh peoples immigrated to the region in 1980s in a government project attempting to give local minority ethnic peoples an example about intensive farming so that they can learn better farming technique from these immigrants.
- Continue by road 6 km to the top of the pass for another stop to admire magnificent scenery of a the large valley which is surrounded by high mountains including Quan Ba town let. Then driving down hill to Quan Ba before it get dark. Check in hotel, freshen up and dinner.

Day 3: Quan Ba - Yen Minh - Pho Bang - Dong Van (107 Km) (B,L,D)
 
- Breakfast, check out hotel at 08.00, the group will pay a visit to a village of the Zao ao dai(Zao with long dress) 6 km away from the hotel which is well located in a fabulous valley with perfect nature setting for a culture discovery of this ethnic group in the region.
- Continue by road 4C along the Mtem river which sneaks its way between 2 high mountain ranges for 16 km to the foot of yen Minh pass. Here the group will take a walk for about 30 minutes to explore a village of the La Chi ethnic, one of smallest ethnic groups with only over 3000 individuals in Vietnam. - Passing over Yen Minh mountain pass with several stops for stunning scenery of the surrounding area, paying visit to a small Red Zao village near the top of the pass before descending downhill to Yen Minh town let for early lunch break.
- Leaving Yen Minh at about 12.00, the road gets steeper heading the limestone highlands. Rock and rock everywhere along the two sides of the road. Rarely appeared some narrow pieces of land and these are real treasure of the region for the local peoples, mainly H’mong to grow corn for their staple food. In this hard highland, peoples learn the best value of soil and water! Out of imagination but a truly fact that the H’mong peoples get soil from these pieces to carry uphill in back basket to put it in rocky holes to grow corn. - After 27 km driving through lime stone highland, the group arrives in Pho Bang, the ancient market and town let of the H’mong famous for the traditional two storey houses with clay wall of the H’mong. Spend an hours walking around this charming town let. - Leaving Pho Bang and driving back 5 km then getting downhill to the bottom of a long valley for another stop to visit Lung Cam village, paying visit to several homes of the H’mong including a 70 years old house where the famous Vietnamese film: The story about Pha’s life taken.
- Continues driving towards Dong Van for 14 km and arriving to the Vuong family palace, known as the King of the H’mong. The site is recognized as national historical site for its unique architectural structure as well as of its charm. - The last portion 14 km of the road to Dong Van offers unforgettable memory of the nature magnificence. Arriving at Dong Van at about 17.00, check in hotel, freshen up and clients may take an easy walk around the old street of Dong Van and the market.

- Wake up early, breakfast at 6.30 and depart at 7.30 for Lung Cu, 26 km from Dong Van for visiting the northern most commune of Vietnam, especially paying visit to the only Red Lolo ethnic village. If on Friday, clients will have chance to attend the local communal market here, where some hundreds of ethnic peoples from H’mong, Zao and Lolo ethnic gather once a week not only for shopping but also for socializing. - Driving back to Dong Van, having a short rest, check out hotel and leaving for Meo Vac.

Opt2: On Sunday:
 
- Breakfast and joining the local for the market. Dong Van Sunday market is the biggest and famous market in the region taken place every Sunday. Same as the market in Bac Ha, Lao Cai, local ethnic peoples for villages in the region wear their best traditional costumes to go to the market as joining a festival for meeting, socializing…
- Check out hotel at 10.00 and leaving Dong Van for Meo Vac.
- This portion of the road is famous for tough road but stunning landscapes of Ma Pi Leng pass. The narrow road winds its way on deserted and walled-up lime stone mountain sides up and down hill for 21 km. Take a long break at the top of the pass to pay visiting to a small hamlet of the H’mong built on rock, then stop at the monument awarding to the builder of the road to admire marvelous scenery before descending to Meo Vac town let for Lunch break.
- Leaving Meo Vac at 13.30 along the newly built road for 50 km through the remotest region of the far north. Stop at Niem Son commune for enjoying the beautiful scenery of the valley where the Nho Que river meets the upstream portion of the Gam river. Continue driving along this back road for 20 km till Ly Bon commune where it meets national road 34, turn left and follow road 34 along the Gam river to Bao Lac(Cao Bang Province).
- Arriving Bao Lac in late afternoon at about 17.00, check in hotel, freshen up and then take a short walk around this charming town. If on Saturday, the town will be lively with ethnic peoples coming downhill from remote villages for the market on Sunday morning. There is a chance to meet the Black Lolo peoples who live in very high mountain and always wear beautiful traditional costumes when come down for the Sunday market.

Day 5: Bao Lac - Tinh Tuc - Ba Be national Park (164 Km) (B,L,D)
 
- Breakfast, check out hotel and leave Bao Lac at 08.00. If on Sunday, the group will spend an hour here for joining local tribal peoples at the market place and leaving later at about 09.00.
- Driving 73 km along national road 34 to Tinh Tuc with some stops along the way for beautiful landscapes. Walking about half an hour to visit a small village of the San Chay ethnic peoples at Hung Dao Commune.
- Lunch break at Tinh Tuc and then leaving the national road 34 for the provincial road 212, passing over the 15 km long Golia pass with stop at the top for magnificent scenery of the lowland of Cao bang province.
- Continue driving for another hour along this narrow road and arrive at Na Khao commune in mid afternoon. Here the group will pay visiting to the Lanh village of the Zao Tien(Zao with coins).
- Then take the last portion 30 km of the road to the hear quarter of Ba Be national park in an hour. Check in hotel, relax and free walking to explore the beautiful nature of the famous nature reserve.

Day 6: Ba Be Lake boat cruise - Road trip to Hanoi (B, L,-)
 
- After breakfast, the group will take a 45 minutes walk through the well protected forest of the park to the lake side.
- Boarding a boat for the 3 hours cruise around the lake, one of the largest natural lakes in Vietnam which is encircled by walled-up limestone mountains covered with thick forest. The boat cruise will be highlighted with the Fairy Pond, Dau Dang waterfall and especially part of the Nang river where the water pour to the lake.
- Arrive back to the head quarter of the park at 11.00, having an early lunch and then leaving for Hanoi.
- The whole afternoon is for driving 260 km for Hanoi along national road 3 via Bac Can and Thai Nguyen with some break along the way. Arriving in Hanoi at about 18.00 and the trip ends.

Day 05 : Mu Cang Chai – Tam Duong
 
Superb road between terraced rice fields and tea hills. On the way, visit of a tea manufacture. Picnic in the nature or lunch in a local restaurant local, as you like. Arrival in Tam Duong in the afternoon. Walk. Night at the hotel. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 06 : Tam Duong
 
If the town itself is relatively ugly, the surroundings are splendid, going through oasis valleys surrounded by lime peaks that we discover during a day of trekking. Lunch in a Black Dao family home. Return to the hotel at the end of the day. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 07 : Tam Duong – Lai Chau
 
In the morning, visit of the weekly market (Thursday), a place of intense meetings between the various mountain tribes. After having been taken by such a particular atmosphere, ride towards Lai Chau. Magnificent road alongside the Nam Na River, an important affluent of the Black River. Visit of the Black Thai village of Chan Nua. Arrival midday in Lai Chau. Small stroll in the surroundings. Night in an inn. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 08 : Lai Chau – Dien Bien Phu
 
Visit of the local market local, small but busy. En route for Dien Bien Phu. Arrival after lunch. General sightseeing of the Indochina War remembrance with the visit of the Military Museum and of Colonel de Castries’ headquarters (reconstructed). Stops on the battlefield and at the French and Viet Minh cemeteries. Walk alongside the Nam River Valley, inhabited by the Black Thai. Night at the hotel. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 09 : Dien Bien Phu – Son La
 
The sublime scenery compensates for the bad state of the road. On the way, encounters with numerous mountain ethnic minorities ethnic. Arrival in Son La, visit of the penitentiary, then bath in the local hot springs. Night at the hotel. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 10 : Son La – Hang Kia
 
Visit of the market, then road to the south. We enter a splendid valley inhabited by the Thai, Muong, and H’Mong minorities. Lunch and numerous stops on the way. Arrival at the small village of Hang Kea, welcome from our White Thai hosts. Night and diner in their stilted house. Breakfast, lunch and diner included.

Day 11 : Hang Kia
 
Trekking day in that magnificent valley. The mountain is full of activity, colors, and “hellos” shouted by smiling little children. Second night in our hosts’ home.  Breakfast, lunch, and diner included.

Day 12 : Hang Kia – Trang An
 
In the morning, visit of the Muong’s Xa Linh market. Lunch with our hosts, then en route towards the province of Ninh Binh on a very beautiful countryside road. Night at the hotel.  Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 13 : Trang An
 
We recently discovered the site of Trang An, comparable to Tam Coc minus the crowd, plus even more spectacular scenery where the green of the rice fields superbly dominates among impressive karst sugarloafs. Numerous rivers flow under the mountains through tunnels that we shall visit during a magnificent boat ride. After lunch, stroll on a bike or in an ox cart to discover the pagodas disseminated in the countryside. Then boat discovery of the Kenh Ga floating village. Night at the hotel. Breakfast included.

Day 14 : Trang An – Halong Bay Cruise
 
Morning departure to Halong Bay. Arrival around twelve noon, checking on our junk boat for a fairy tale cruise on the jade checkerboard. Seafood lunch, visit of an impressive grotto, kayaking, swimming, etc. Night in a boat private cabin. Breakfast, lunch and diner included.

Day 15 : Halong Bay – Hanoi
